🎨 Letting Go: The Bold Power of Play in Art and Life

It can be hard to let go!

From a young age, we’re taught to follow rules: go to school, get the job, stay busy, be productive. But this mindset—while practical—can drain our joy. Especially as creatives.

I’ve discovered something transformational: when I stop playing in my art, I stop feeling connected. Things become rigid. Forced. The joy fades.

But when I let myself play—boldly, freely, intuitively—everything shifts.

I feel alive.

Play isn't just a break from seriousness. It’s an empowering mindset. A reminder that we don’t have to follow the rules to create something meaningful.

When I allow myself to explore without pressure, the work becomes more effortless. The colours speak. The brush moves without overthinking. The canvas becomes a space of freedom again.

This is what I want to share through my art—not perfection, but possibility.

Playful exploration in my journal - A place where I can make a mess, be in the moment and explore.

Sometimes it’s as simple as choosing joy over chores.
Taking ten minutes to do something just for you—a walk, a playlist, a scribble, a dance in the kitchen—can completely restore your energy.

A single moment of presence can shift your whole mindset.

And in that moment, you remember who you are.

One book that really supported this shift is “How Are You, Really?” by Jenna Kutcher. It offers an intuitive and honest look at how we can live more aligned—not just on the outside, but deep within.

It reminded me: joy is not selfish. Play is not a waste.
It’s necessary.
