How many times have you been asked, “Are you ready for Christmas yet?” I’ve honestly lost count! 😁 - No, is the simple answer!
Christmas can be overwhelming. Between art fairs, workshops, school commitments, choir rehearsals, shows, and pre-Christmas birthdays, it’s easy to feel the pressure to do everything perfectly. These are just a few of the things I have had going on in the past weeks.
Slowing Down and Finding Inspiration
This year, I intentionally slowed down in my art practice. And something surprising happened! My artwork grew more in the past few weeks than it did over the rest of the year. By giving myself space in my creative process, I was able to notice more, celebrate small wins, and find inspiration in everyday moments with family and friends.
Taking Stock of Artistic Growth
Slowing down gave me time to reflect on my artistic achievements in 2025 and consider what I want to create in 2026. I have already started planning new workshops for 2026 and am excited about the route my art is taking. Progress sometimes comes not from doing more, but from letting creativity unfold naturally in the studio, experimenting with new techniques, and embracing small, joyful moments of inspiration.
As Christmas approaches try these things:
-
Slow down in your creative process
-
Appreciate the small moments that inspire your art
-
Let things be and allow your creativity to flow
This will be my motto heading into 2026—whether I’m painting, sketching, or exploring new artistic ideas. Sometimes, the best growth in art comes from pausing and letting your creativity breathe.
I hope that you find these helpful. Drop me a message if this resonates I would love to hear from you.
