Taking the Leap: Saying No to the 9-5 Life
In 2014, during maternity leave, I faced a choice: return to my job as an account manager or become a full-time mum. My heart told me to stay home, raise my children, and truly be there for them. The external pressure to go back to work was strong, but when I weighed the costs, it became clear that returning wouldn’t be worth it. So, I took a deep breath, found my bravery, and said no to the job.
Gaining Confidence Through Art
Over time, self-tuition, workshops, and online learning helped me gradually build confidence. I've come to see life as a series of lessons; each challenge brings growth and deepens my resolve as an artist.
The Power of Practice: Becoming the Artist I Envisioned
During the 2020 lockdown, with two kids at home, I learned that painting little and often was the key to becoming the artist I aspired to be. This is the mantra I live by today and head to my studio for short bursts of creativity.
Balancing Art and Motherhood
Balancing art and motherhood hasn’t always been easy. I found time in short bursts when my kids were young, and those moments added up. Dedication and practice helped me grow, even when time was limited.
Creating a Life Aligned with My Values
Learning is endless, and I’m constantly on the lookout for new techniques, ways of working, and insights from others—whether they’re experienced artists or just starting their journeys. It’s a joy to keep learning and growing.
Embracing the Ups and Downs of the Creative Journey
This creative journey has been far from smooth; it’s had frustrating moments of doubt. But each twist and turn brings new discoveries and opportunities for growth, reminding me that it’s all part of the process. If I persevere, I will get to where I want to be.
Following My True Passion
By saying no to the pressures of a 9-5 job, I’ve found a life that truly aligns with my values. I continue to share this journey with others, hoping they can also discover their passions and find joy along the way.
